PostNL launches mobile telephony per second

Reliable, simple and affordable calls with Gewoon Prepaid

POSTNL12526 March 2012 at 08:30 CET – The Hague – Today, PostNL extends the range it offers at its PostNL Post Offices to include a prepaid mobile service. The company will start selling SIM card packages and Combi packages, featuring a mobile phone and a SIM card, in 2,000 post offices in the Netherlands. PostNL Mobiel’s telephone services are easy on the pocket, simple and reliable.

PostNL Mobiel has listened to the customer and offers telephony per second. Furthermore, the customer does not pay a call set-up fee. Calls are made via KPN’s reliable network and customers can keep their own number. They will also be able to use the country’s largest retail network of more than 2,000 PostNL Post Offices, often conveniently situated in stores and supermarkets, to top up their phones, or they can do so online.

The product is a logical addition to PostNL’s range because it puts people in touch. PostNL Mobiel targets customers who want a no-fuss service. They want to be reachable for their children and other family, make short calls, prefer to buy in a shop and want a standard mobile phone or smart phone.

Arno van Bijnen, Retail and Consumer Market Director at PostNL: “PostNL puts people in touch with a thoughtful postcard, a personal letter or a surprise parcel. With PostNL Mobiel we are giving people yet another way of contacting one another; both reliable, simple and affordable. Customer research showed that there is a need for an understandable prepaid product which charges per second. Gewoon Prepaid service is exactly for those customers who want simplicity and only want to be reachable for family and friends. Customers can top up their phones quickly and easily at a post office. There’s always one close by.”
