Peter Jangenfeldt, Philips: “The new and modern warehouse environment further enables DHL to align the logistics solutions with our demands.”
Philips Consumer Lifestyle, a world leading company in healthcare, lifestyle and lighting, has extended its contract with DHL Supply Chain for another three years. DHL Supply Chain manages Philips Consumer Lifestyle’s entire Nordic warehousing at its new high security facility in Torsvik outside of Jönköping, Sweden.
Already in 2004 Philips selected DHL as its 3PL (Third Party Logistics) and distribution partner. Over the years, the operations have expanded and now include consumer products such as domestic appliances, personal care products, and sound and vision. The extended agreement means that DHL will continue to be responsible for warehousing activities including intake, storage, transport design, and distribution covering the Philips Consumer Lifestyle market in the Nordic region.
“We have high demands when it comes to delivery guarantees and flexibility; it is crucial that our customers’ requirements are met and that volume fluctuations can be dealt with smoothly. The new and modern warehouse environment further enables DHL to align the logistics solutions with our demands,” said Peter Jangenfeldt, responsible for Supply Chain at Philips Consumer Lifestyle Nordic.
DHL will now be able to develop the whole supply chain for Philips
The warehouse in Torsvik outside of Jönköping, has been specifically designed for the handling of consumer products and electronic products. The products from Philips Consumer Lifestyle require careful handling and more than 95,000 pallets are handled at the facility each year. “We are delighted to extend our logistics partnership with Philips. It is a challenging assignment considering the volumes we handle, which involves swift adjustments of staffing levels and securing the shipments. We have been able to meet Philips’ high demands on quality and flexibility. With the move to the new facility in Torsvik, we will now be able to develop the whole supply chain for Philips and create long-term solutions,” said Erik Trautmann, Commercial Manager at DHL Supply Chain Nordics.
