DHL will deliver parcels and small packages in Germany on December 18

As Germany’s market leader in the parcel business, DHL offers customers the most extensive parcel shipping network in Germany.
As in past years, DHL is offering its customers a very special service to ensure that all Christmas presents are under the tree in time for Christmas. The logistics company will deliver parcels and small packages throughout Germany on December 18th, the Sunday before Christmas, just as if it were a regular workday. And as always, parcels, small packages and letters will also be delivered on Christmas Eve.
Nationwide network
Christmas time is always peak season for parcel shipments. Twice as many parcels are shipped on peak days in December than in any other month. “A large percentage of these parcels are Christmas presents that are ordered either online, by phone or through ordering cards. We deliver almost 90% of these mail shipments to the recipient just a day after they arrive in our warehouse. With the Sunday delivery service, we are offering our customers an additional service to ship their presents on time and once more underline our role as the leading parcel service in Germany,” says Jürgen Gerdes, member of the Management Board that oversees the MAIL Division at Deutsche Post DHL and who heads the parcel business. “This service is possible because of the huge dedication of our employees and our nationwide network.”
Number of parcels doubles
The rest of the year, DHL transports around three million parcel shipments a day in Germany. This number doubles during the Christmas holiday season. Additional staff has been deployed to help deliver the parcels. As a result, 60,000 delivery staff in Germany is working to ensure that Christmas parcels arrive on time. In order to make sure your parcels arrive in time for Christmas they should be dropped off at DHL by noon on December 22nd.
As Germany’s market leader in the parcel business, DHL’s 20,000 retail outlets and sales points, more than 2,500 Packstations, and 1,000 Paketboxes offer customers the most extensive parcel shipping network in Germany, and in addition to shipping Christmas parcels, the company also offers customers many more Christmas products. For example, in addition to Christmas-themed Packsets, retail outlets and sales points also offer practical tips on how to decorate Christmas mail, make shipping easier and avoid damage during transport by using the right packing materials.
