Berlin/Essen/Tulsa, April 23, 2013 – Spirit AeroSystems, one of the world’s largest non-OEM designer and manufacturer of aerostructures for commercial, military and business/regional jets, has awarded DB Schenker the Spirit Distribution Center (DC) for their Tulsa Manufacturing Site.
Approximately 60 employees will store and supply aero parts needed for manufacturing and assembly of all Spirit’s customers’ at the Tulsa Facility.
The 9,000 square meter Distribution Center for the Spirit Tulsa Manufacturing Site is the second of its kind, based after the Spirit Distribution Center in Wichita, Kansas, where DB Schenker was appointed as the Lead Logistics Provider at Spirit’s Wichita fuselage manufacturing plant.
The solution for both distribution centers in Tulsa and Wichita, USA includes consolidating inventory from multiple manufacturing locations to a centralized distribution location, storage and production line side delivery, sophisticated kitting operations as well as Transportation Management services.
“Awarding of the Tulsa DC is a result of DB Schenker / Spirit partnership forged over the past several years of providing world class service, while significantly reducing supply chain costs,” says Charles McKinny, Spirit AeroSystems Vice President, Corporate Supply Chain Management & Global Strategy. In June 2012, Spirit AeroSystems honored DB Schenker with the 2011 Platinum Supplier Award given for customer satisfaction and excellent performance in 2011. DB Schenker was the only logistics supplier to be awarded among 13 recognized suppliers.
