Nutritional products company also looks to Menlo for implementation of online shopping model
SAN MATEO, Calif., and SHANGHAI – March 19, 2012 – Menlo Worldwide Logistics (China), the global logistics subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), announced today it will handle the North China distribution and warehouse management for BabyCare Incorporated. Headquartered in Beijing, BabyCare is a direct selling company that develops, manufactures and sells nutritional products, with an emphasis on infant nutrition. BabyCare, which has operations in 21 cities and 16 provinces has an investment in China of US$50 million.
In addition to warehousing and distribution in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu, Menlo will establish a direct sales network with the implementation of online shopping for BabyCare.
“We wanted to reduce operating costs by outsourcing distribution and warehousing and establish an online shopping model,” says Sissel Chu, Sales Director of BabyCare. “Menlo not only set up the warehousing network, they helped establish a new picking flow and system that supports the online shopping. “BabyCare needed an experienced third-party logistics provider in China with expertise and a network in direct sales,” said Thomas Pan, managing director, Menlo North Asia. “By developing an online shopping model supported by our best-in-class logistics services, we are able to achieve their goals of trimming costs, enhancing operational efficiency and improving turnaround time.”
Menlo’s multi-client facilities in mainland China include Shanghai, Waigaoqiao, Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Wuhan. Additional facilities include Hong Kong, Malaysia, Bangkok, Thailand; Mumbai and New Delhi, India in the Asia-Pacific region and the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
