Bill Meahl (56), former Chief Operating Officer of the SUPPLY CHAIN Division, will take on the new role with immediate effect.
Deutsche Post DHL today announced steps to further strengthen its customer-oriented business model. The company will focus cross-divisional DHL customer management for the company’s top customers and innovation activities in one area of responsibility by introducing the position of a global Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for DHL. Bill Meahl (56), former Chief Operating Officer of the SUPPLY CHAIN Division, will take on the new role with immediate effect. In this function, he will report to Frank Appel, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Post DHL.
“Creating the role of a Chief Commercial Officer for DHL is the natural next step for us to deliver against our promise to become ‘provider of choice’ for our customers as outlined in our Strategy 2015. With Bill Meahl we have found an excellent expert who will solely focus on further enhancing collaboration between all three DHL divisions in the interest of our customers”, said Deutsche Post DHL Chief Executive Officer Frank Appel. “Despite DHL’s strong financial performance and the good progress of our DHL divisions, we still see a great, untapped growth potential. Fostering closer coordination across the DHL units will help us to further realize this potential.”
New Responsibilities
The CCO will be responsible for Global Customer Solutions (GCS), DHL Solutions & Innovations (DSI) as well as the sector management of DHL’s core strategic industries. He will coordinate commercial activities for the company’s top global customers requiring services across the Express, Global Forwarding/Freight, Supply Chain and Global Mail businesses. Bill Meahl will be a member of the Executive Committee DHL, the steering committee for all DHL divisions, and also lead the Global Commercial Board, where all cross divisional commercial topics in DHL are decided.
“Bill Meahl knows the dynamics of our business and of DHL itself, the needs of our customers, and is well familiar with the trends that will shape our industry over the next years. That makes him an ideal candidate for taking over the new CCO role”, said Frank Appel.
Bill Meahl has been working in logistics for nearly 30 years with global contract logistics provider Exel which was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL in 2005. Since 2008, he has been Chief Operating Officer of DHL’s SUPPLY CHAIN business with responsibility for global operations, sales and marketing. Prior to that, he held several other management positions at SUPPLY CHAIN, respectively Exel, overseeing the business in the Americas and heading various sector units including Automotive, Retail and Consumer.
