Every FedEx Express (a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, NYSE: FDX) shipment is special, but a recent one was truly life-saving for three sisters traveling to a new home in the United States.
FedEx donated transportation from Panama all the way to the Wild Animal Sanctuary near Denver, Colorado, USA, for the 15-year-old lionesses. The move means they will enjoy much improved care, food, and living conditions.
The lionesses were placed in special containers and transported by FedEx over air and landto their new home with 720 acres of grassland.
The rescue mission was a joint effort of the Panamanian National Environmental Authority, Gamboa Animal Rescue, Wild Animal Sanctuary, several animal rights organizations and FedEx Express.
FedEx Express has a long history of transporting rare and delicate cargo, including: two giant pandas to Washington D.C.’s National Zoo in December 2000 (and a return trip to China in 2010), the Fenix Chilean miners rescue capsule, Tibetan artifacts, polar bears, white tigers, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, gorillas, and eagles.
