Tesla Motors’ Supply Chain VP to Speak at CSCMP Annual Global Conference; Closing Session to Focus on Personal Development

CSCMP125Lombard, Illinois USA (August 12, 2013) -The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) announced that Peter Carlsson, vice president of supply chain for Tesla Motors, will be the featured speaker at the Major Session of its annual global conference on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Building a Complex Supply Chain from the Ground Up will be the theme of Carlsson’s presentation. CSCMP’s conference will take place October 20 through October 23 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, USA.

In his talk, Carlsson will share the Tesla journey, how it developed around the customer, and why the company will continue to be an influential force in the future of the automotive industry. He will discuss the supply chain situations he faced–how to rethink an extremely competitive logistics system, the challenges of building an electric car in a gasoline-driven world, and creating, managing, and executing a supplier infrastructure of more than 200 relationships who have to meet exacting criteria.

Carlsson joined Tesla from NXP Semiconductors where he was responsible for purchasing and outsourcing. As chief purchasing officer, he took the purchase organization from a tactical, decentralized structure to a strategic global commodity organization. Prior to this, he was chief purchasing officer at Sony Ericsson.

Tesla Motors continues to make headlines around the world as it revolutionizes the auto industry with its innovative, high-performance electric Model S, Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year®. The company is turning out cars that are creating a buzz wherever they go. But it’s not just the cars that are turning heads, it’s also the company’s overall performance, vertical integration, sales model, and delivery experience that are causing executives to rethink their own business models.
Mike Rayburn, an entertainer, business owner, comedian, author, and philanthropist, will close the conference on Wednesday with his session entitled What If and Why Not? In this musical motivational session, he will use his guitar and comedy to teach three simple, powerful tools that attendees can immediately use to access their unrealized potential, look at old things in new ways, and leap beyond their perceived limitations. Rayburn is an authority on personal development and human potential.

CSCMP’s Annual Global Conference is the largest of its kind for the supply chain management profession, and will put an intense focus on innovative solutions that attendees can take back to their companies and use. The event will host more than 3,000 practitioners, educators, and thought leaders from around the world. More than 100 educational sessions are planned.

Attendees who register before August 31 will receive $150.00 US off the regular registration rates. More information and registration is available at cscmpconference.org.
