14 November 2011 at 08:30 CET – Netwerk VSP, part of PostNL, has decided to discontinue its activities on the addressed mail market as of 17 December 2011. The current mail market and the economic circumstances offer insufficient perspective to continue these activities profitably in the longer term.
A social plan has been agreed with the works council to assist the employees of Netwerk VSP Geadresseerd, based on the principle of guiding these employees from work to work.
The discontinuation of addressed mail delivery will have no consequences for Netwerk VSP’s activities in the area of door to door mail delivery of print advertising.
Since 2006, through its subsidiary Netwerk VSP Geadresseerd BV., Netwerk VSP has been providing weekly delivery of addressed mail throughout the Netherlands for business customers.
In case of discrepancies between the Dutch and English versions of this press release, the Dutch version will prevail.
Annually PostNL processes 8.8 billion addressed postal items (including 100 million parcels) and delivers to more than 88 million addresses in the Benelux, Germany, the UK and Italy. PostNL’s main business is mail, parcels and e-commerce. The company also provides services in the area of data and document management, direct marketing and fulfilment. PostNL employs some 77,000 people. In 2010 the company generated a turnover of nearly 4.3 billion euros. More information about PostNL can be found on its website www.postnl.com.
