DHL Freight launched operations today in its brand new logistics center near Kiev in the village of Kalinovka. DHL uses about 20,000 square meters of the state-of-the-art complex. The new facility will serve as a main gateway for DHL Freight’s network in Eastern Europe, especially the Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.
“For DHL, the Ukraine is a market with huge development potential. We invested in the new facility in order to assure best-in-class transport and warehouse services for our current customers and to ready ourselves for the continued growth in the Ukraine and Eastern Europe overall”, says Piotr M. Sikorski, Managing Director DHL Freight Poland & Ukraine.
The new location, with its modern infrastructure and highest security standards, offers DHL 17 docking positions for trucks. 140 people are employed there. The complete handling and storage area is under video surveillance, with electronic access control, intrusion systems providing additional security. DHL is one of the strongest brands in the Ukrainian market and has been repeatedly ranked the No. 1 logistics company by the Kiev Post, the leading English-language newspaper in Ukraine.
Better coverage and cost efficiency, higher transport volumes
“The new center will even better serve our customers and take our freight business to the next level in terms of coverage, transport volumes and cost efficiency.
