CEVA renews its partnership with Miele in Italy for a further three years

Milan, Italy, 26 October 2010 – CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has signed a three year renewal, worth €2.5 million per annum with Miele the famous manufacturer of household appliances.

The collaboration with Miele dates back to 1999; CEVA will continue to provide Miele with integrated logistics services both for white goods for domestic use, such as refrigerators, ovens and dishwashers, and for professional equipment, such as mangles, industrial washing machines and tumble dryers. CEVA will handle the inbound logistics, warehousing activities, preparation of orders, distribution of products nationally, home delivery and special deliveries using Spedimacc. Every year, the logistics operator will manage 120,000 items within the warehouse at Pognano, near Bergamo, where the customer will have 9,000 sq m dedicated to their products.

Ornella Pippa, Trade Marketing Director of Miele, said: “During the long partnership that we have enjoyed, CEVA has learned the needs and demands of our individual customers in detail; in renewing our confidence in the logistics operator, we have chosen to continue our work with an excellent partner, which is able to offer a service that is truly customized for the handling and distribution of our products. Our end customers are extremely satisfied because our supply chain is efficient and flexible, deliveries are punctual, and we have a constant monitoring of the progress of the orders.”

Gianfranco Sgro, President for CEVA in Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “CEVA has offered Miele a comprehensive and truly integrated logistics service for more than ten years, covering all aspects of the activities, from inbound to delivery to the end customers. The large network of warehouses across the country, the expertise of our team and the high level of customization of our logistics solutions will enable us to continue providing exceptional service to Miele. Moreover, thanks to Spedimacc, a leading technical courier acquired in 2008, we are able to handle not only the normal distribution of products for Miele, but also special deliveries.”

After more than 100 years of activity, Miele is today the only premium brand in the household appliances industry to be present in all five continents, and the only one to have tackled the challenge of the global market with an ambitious goal: to produce the best domestic appliances in the world. Miele is still a family-run business despite its impressive size: 15,000 employees, with more than 10,000 in Germany, 37 branches in 37 countries, numerous importers representing the company throughout the world and a turnover of 2.54 billion a year. Since its foundation in 1899, the company has belonged to the Miele and Zinkann families, and is currently run by the fourth generation. Production is mostly effected in Germany, in eight factories, but there is also one in Austria, one in the Czech Republic and one in China.
