CEVA in Spain awarded ’Company most sensitive to equal opportunities’ by Valladolid’s City Council

Madrid, Spain, 05 April, 2011 – CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has been presented with the ‘Company most sensitive to equal opportunities’ award by Valladolid’s City Council in a ceremony held on 8 March, which coincided with International Women’s Day.

This award, now in its 10th year, is given to recognize companies which are head quartered in Valladolid, that make concerted efforts to fully integrate women in the workplace and to support their careers. In order to apply for the competition, the companies had to demonstrate they had achieved significant results in the last four years in terms of specific criteria such as having an equal opportunities policy, a measurable increase of women in permanent positions in the organization, promotion of women to management positions, their integration in sectors and jobs in which they have scarce presence, and the development of additional measures to attain work-life balance.

CEVA’s commitment in achieving important gender equality objectives convinced Valladolid City Council to announce the logistics operator as the winner of the competition for this year. CEVA has indeed implemented substantial projects in this field, such as a training course to increase the awareness on this topic and a new set of measures designed to facilitate the balance between work and family responsibilities, responding to the specific needs expressed by women workers. In addition, from the year 2006 to 2010, the female workforce within CEVA in Valladolid increased by 50%, confirming that the logistics operator is positively acting to incorporate women within the company, supporting their empowerment and reducing gender differences.

Angelo Ferranti, Human Resources Director, CEVA in Iberia, commented: “Diversity is a differentiation value that enriches the teams of a company and in CEVA we focus strongly on our diversity and inclusion policies to encourage women’s development in different jobs within our company, as well as that of people of different race, religion or ability. A diverse workplace makes us a rich and talented company and our approach is to exceed existing laws and regulations to make our organization a truly inclusive place to work.”

Giuseppe Chiellino, Managing Director of CEVA in Iberia, said: “We are delighted to receive this award as it recognizes us for being a company that believes in and works for gender equality and recognition for our diversity and inclusion philosophy. It is highly important for us that this equality is also applied to all the workforce belonging to different backgrounds, since we are a company that focuses on people’s capabilities and talents, regardless their gender, religion, race or disability.”
