CEVA will handle approximately 30,000 items each year, which will arrive from Italy, being responsible for reception warehousing, picking and final distribution to 11 centers in Portugal and 92 centers in Spain. In addition, CEVA will manage reverse logistics activities as well as waste management for batteries, damaged products and other materials such as paper and wood, which will be collected and recycled.
The collaboration between CEVA and Fiat Group dates back to 1995, the year in which the car manufacturer outsourced the management of its spare parts warehousing activities and orders dispatch to its dealer network. This enabled the Company to focus on its core activities of car manufacturing.
Ricardo López Alonso, Manager of Spare Parts Logistics, Fiat Group – Chrysler LLC, said: “During our years of collaboration, CEVA has become a strategic partner for our company by designing a better service for our dealer network, suggesting distribution improvements and always maintaining a steady work methodology. With the incorporation of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands to our distribution network, CEVA was the obvious choice of partner as we remain highly satisfied with the work they carry out: the result of a decision we made 16 years ago.”
Fiat Group is one of CEVA’s Century customers. Our Century Program was introduced in 2008 and is the key account program for around 100 global customers who present major opportunities across geographies and sectors.
Óscar Martínez, CEVA’s Senior Business Development Manager, Automotive and Industrial added: “This win represents a milestone in our relationship with Fiat Group, and shows our ongoing commitment to supporting their business strategy. CEVA provides them with flexibility in their operations and the solutions they require with our continuous improvement program and LEAN culture which is embedded throughout all our operations.”
Antonio Fondevilla, Commercial Director for Contract Logistics in Iberia, said: “We are very proud of this contract, since it further evidences the trust Fiat Group puts in us and the work of continuous improvement we are carrying out with its brands. Furthermore, it allows us to continue growing in one of the main sectors for CEVA, the automotive industry.”
With this contract, CEVA expands its collaboration with Chrysler, for which it already works in the rest of European countries.
Chrysler Group LLC is one of the most important producers in the automotive sector and mid-2009 announced its global strategic alliance with Fiat Group, giving birth to the ‘new’ Chrysler Group LLC.
