Eden Prairie, MN, June 16, 2011— C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. has been named on three prestigious lists as a testament to the company’s growth and development in the past year. The lists include the FORTUNE 500, Forbes Global 2000 and Barron’s 500.
FORTUNE 500 List:
C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. was once again listed as one of the largest American corporations according to this year’s FORTUNE 500 list, moving up 36 positions to #265. C.H. Robinson posted revenue of $9.3 billion in 2010.
In addition to its overall ranking C.H. Robinson maintained its ranking as the top company in the Transportation and Logistics Industry, a position it has held since 2006, according to the report.
Companies which make the FORTUNE 500 list are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years. Included in the survey are companies that are incorporated and operate in the U.S. and file financial statements with a government agency.
Forbes Global 2000 List:
C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. has been listed as one of the world’s biggest public companies, coming in at #1001 on the Forbes Global 2000 list.
In order to make the Global 2000 list, Forbes first creates four separate lists of the 2000 biggest companies in each of the metrics: sales, profits, assets and market value. Each of the 2000 lists has a minimum cutoff value in order for a company to qualify. A company needs to qualify for at least one of the lists in order to be eligible for the final Global 2000 ranking.
Each company receives a separate score for each metric based on where it ranks on the metric’s list. The scores are added up for all four metrics (equally weighted) which compile a composite score for each company based on their rankings for sales, profits, assets and market value. The companies are then sorted in descending order according to the composite score.
Barron’s 500 List:
C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. has been named on the Barron’s 500 list, coming in at #82.
The Barron’s 500 is an exclusive ranking of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. and Canada, as measured by sales in the latest fiscal year. The survey grades and ranks all companies on the basis of three equally weighted measures: median three-year return on investment, based on a proprietary cash-flow metric called CFROI; the change in CFROI in the latest fiscal year relative to the three-year median and sales growth in the latest fiscal year, adjusted for divestitures.
Each company is graded in three categories. The top quintile gets an A, the bottom, an F. A total grade-point average, or GPA, is calculated for each company, with 4.0 the highest. Ties are broken using the one-year CFROI relative to the three-year median.
