Shanghai office expands company’s Asian operations to meet growing demand in region
Ottawa, Canada, October 4, 2011—Kinaxis, provider of RapidResponse™, an on-demand service for supply chain management and S&OP, today announced that it has opened a new office in Shanghai, China, to meet the needs of the expanding market in the region. This office will operate as the lead sales office for the greater China region, covering mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. This is the third office in Asia for Kinaxis, which opened a Hong Kong office in 2001 and a Tokyo office in 2003.
“The Shanghai office will enable us to better serve our existing customers in the region, as well as to enhance our support of the increasing number of prospects who seek out Kinaxis to help them improve supply chain response management and operations control and command,” said Richard Lord, Kinaxis vice president for the Asia Pacific and Japan regions. “Our global partners in the region, both in process consulting and systems integration, have sought to have us on the ground in China to sell and support our robust technology, and we are excited to be able to better meet the needs of the market.”
Poping Sung joins Kinaxis from SAP to serve as general manager of the Shanghai office. With more than 12 years of experience in enterprise software, Sung previously held senior management positions at Oracle and i2, in addition to SAP. “There’s a new wave that’s underway in supply chain in China, and that will require processes that include real-time decision making and simulation,” Sung said. “Kinaxis is the only company who can truly support that, and RapidResponse is miles ahead of what the competition is offering. The combination of technology, thought leadership and executive vision is what compelled me to join the company and lead this effort in the region.”
Ben Chiu joins the Kinaxis office in Shanghai to lead the sales efforts in the region. Chiu spent the last 14 years in senior sales positions at SAP and Oracle. “The large brand-name companies in mainland China are growing and expanding their global operations,” Chiu said. “At the same time, increasing numbers of North American companies are shifting significant supply chain operations and staff to China. This combined dynamic makes it critical for Kinaxis to have a physical presence in the region to meet the growing demand, because RapidResponse delivers exactly what the market is clamoring for.”
