Once the equipment is at the site, CEVA employees will carry out quality control activities on behalf of Samsung to establish if the items can be repaired or need to be replaced. The majority of items are then stored in the 500 sq m warehouse ahead of being re-sold to buyers worldwide. The new contract is a result of similar activities CEVA already carries out on behalf of Samsung in Austria and Slovenia and the success of these operations has led to Samsung extending their relationship with CEVA into Switzerland.
”Samsung has found an ideal partner in CEVA; their drive for excellence in operations and service flexibility provide us with high performance and solutions to meet our lead times,” said Florian Leitenbauer, Logistics Specialist from Samsung.
CEVA has operated in Switzerland since September 2001, but has previously purely focused on Freight Management services, and the cooperation with Samsung marks the first Contract Logistics activity for CEVA in Switzerland: “Our strategy is to apply to knowledge we have of Contract Logistics elsewhere in Europe to this new geography and expand our presence in the Contract Logistics market in the country. Our site in Basel has the capacity to expand, as we add new customers to our portfolio,” said Beat Högger, CEVA’s Swiss Managing Director.
“From this central location close to Basel, we are within an hour of most of the speciality retailers in Zurich, Bern, Lucerne and Schwyz allowing us to provide Samsung with a timely and reliable solution,” added Beat Högger.
Operations began in May and the seamless implementation was completed using CEVA’s own project management methodology, Zero Defect Start-Up (ZDS), ensuring benefits were delivered to the customer from the beginning of the project.
