Colombo, Sri Lanka, 2th January 2013 – TNT Express in Sri Lanka has announced that the shippers Academy of Colombo in association with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, honoured the company with the Global Commerce Excellence Award.
The Awards ceremony was held on the 13th of December 2012 at the Kingsburg Hotel.
The accolade recognises TNT Express contribution to the national economy during the period between 1985 and 2009 marked by civil unrests.
The Awards’ committee nominated different companies from various sectors and economic institutions for five awards categories.
Jerome Brohier, Country General Manager for TNT Express in Sri Lanka stated: “This award reaffirms our position as one of the international specialists in the global express industry. TNT Express was the only Express delivery company operating in north east city of Jafna.”
James Edgeworth, Sales and Marketing Director for TNT Express Middle East and Sub Continent Associates commented: “We are truly delighted to receive such recognition. During those long and difficult years, we deployed tremendous efforts to ensure our air express services were available and accessible to our customers.We were also able to provide logistics support to the WFP and helped the humanitarian organisation delivering food assistance to the affected areas.”
TNT Express, in Sri Lanka is represented by Ace International Express, the express delivery arm of Aitken Spence Cargo. TNT Express in Sri Lanka has 15 branches island wide.
