18 June 2013 at 08:30 CET – The Hague – Yesterday, PostNL reached an agreement in principle with the unions on a number of subjects including an extension of the Social Plan for two years.
In consultation with the unions Abvakabo FNV, BVPP, CNV Publieke Zaak and VPP, PostNL has reached an agreement in principle on the Social Plan, the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) for PostNL Parcels, the CLA for Saturday deliverers and the pension arrangement for mail deliverers. It has also been determined that PostNL has met the obligations as laid down in the agreement on the reduction of forced redundancies.
The trade unions will present the agreement to their members. After their approval, the agreement will become effective. Clarity is expected by the end of July.
The Social Plan of PostNL will be extended for two years to 31 December 2015. This gives more clarity to all employees, who are or will be directly affected by the reorganisation up to 31 December 2015. The Social Plan applies to all employees covered by the CLA for PostNL or the CLA for PostNL Parcels.
Additionally, the following agreements have been made.
In addition to the agreement on the CLA for mail deliverers dated 14 May 2013, a new pension arrangement was agreed upon. The pension arrangement for mail deliverers will come into effect on 1 January 2014.
Under a new CLA for Saturday deliverers, which applies from 1 July 2013 to 31 December 2015, Saturday deliverers will receive a phased pay rise: 1.5% as of 1 July 2013, 0.75% as of 1 January 2014 and another 0.75% as of 1 January 2015.
In their new CLA, PostNL Parcels’ employees will receive a pay rise of 1.1% from 1 December 2012 and 0.6% from 1 January 2013 and a one-off payment of € 1,000 over 2012 on a full time basis. Next to that, the CLA for PostNL Parcels will be integrated into the CLA for PostNL as of 1 April 2013.
It has also been determined that PostNL has met the obligations as laid down in the agreement on the reduction of forced redundancies. Under this agreement it was agreed to provide 1,700 jobs to limit the number of forced redundancies from the reorganisation. To date, 1,900 jobs have already been realised.
In case of any discrepancies between the English and Dutch versions of this press release, the Dutch version prevails.
