On November 7th, during an award ceremony hosted by HEB Mexico at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Damco Mexico won the most prestigious award of “Strategic Partner of the Year” in the Supply Chain division of HEB. Damco won in recognition of an outstanding contribution to HEB. The Criteria to select the winner was based on cost savings, good service, expediting of the OC’s, own consolidations and fast response in emergencies.
Gerardo Uribe, Vice-president of Supply Chain in HEB Mexico, commented that the award was given to DAMCO “for their outstanding service levels”.
“They have been instrumental during 2012 by providing innovative solutions and constant care”, Gerardo said.

“This award is proof of how customers see and appreciate the value of our ability to understand their business needs, and regularly propose creative solutions, which can help them improve and make their supply chains more efficient”, he said.
During early 2012, Damco proposed HEB with a solution to anticipate peak season, in order to avoid space constraints and peak season surcharges, on the basis that we were able to fix rates during the second quarter of the year. This initiative reduced rate uncertainty, providing HEB’s purchasing department with the confidence to source a larger amount of products with a direct impact on the volumes that were managed by Damco.
