Honorees receive award during CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony
MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 4, 2013 —FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) has been named a recipient of the 2013 CIO 100 Award from IDG’s CIO magazine. The 26th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
“For 26 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value,” said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO magazine & events. “Our 2013 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage.”
“We’re honored to be named a 2013 CIO 100 Award recipient,” said David Zanca, Sr. VP IT, FedEx Services. “I am proud of the FedEx Web Services team’s continuous innovation in the world of e-commerce, connecting businesses and consumers around the globe. We are grateful for the recognition from CIO magazine.”
FedEx Web Services, developed as a streamlined e-commerce connection for businesses and consumers around the world, handles more than 25 million tracking requests per day. In 2012, projections for the upcoming holiday peak shipping season accelerated the need to upgrade Web Services capacity. The move to a virtual environment enabled quadruple capacity for customer facing transactions at a fraction of the cost of a physical implementation, increased visibility and provided customers enhanced flexibility.
Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, Aug. 13th at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
About the CIO 100
The recipients of this year’s CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges’ recommendations and voted on the final 100.
