HONG KONG, Sept. 22, 2011 —FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYS: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, will kick off its fourth annual FedEx Cares Week in the Asia Pacific region. From September 17-25 FedEx volunteers in 12 Asia markets will donate their time to community groups and programs region wide.
This year, around 1,000 FedEx volunteers will support 35 local organizations in a range of environmental community activities, including tree planting, gardening, and environmental protection education sessions for children. Other projects being supported include childcare activities, visits to elderly centers, and donations of books and stationary.
Since FedEx Cares Week first launched in the U.S. in 2005, it has expanded to more than 40 countries and territories around the globe and now involves almost 4,000 employees. Together, FedEx volunteers around the world will donate a combined 20,000 hours to serving local organizations.
