Ashby-de-la-Zouch, UK, 26 January 2011 – CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain companies, has been awarded a three year, €6 million contract, to manage Mazda’s nationwide distribution of aftermarket vehicle parts.
The aftermarket parts will be delivered via CEVA’s well established shared user automotive network. The solution enhances the service levels provided to Mazda dealerships, providing consolidated roll cage deliveries which will reduce potential damage to the products and maintain quality standards. In addition the solution will reduce the carbon footprint of miles travelled by 18% through improved vehicle usage and will deliver both environmental and financial savings to Mazda.
Manu Saels, Mazda’s European Operations Manager, commented: “By working in true partnership with CEVA we have implemented a solution which will improve cost-efficiency and deliver higher service levels, fully meeting the needs of the Mazda dealerships.”
Key to the successful operation of the service will be CEVA’s In Cab Asset Management track and trace system which monitors all transactions and movement of roll cages, including all returns and reverse logistics. Dealers will be provided with a web based system to handle enquiries, dealer warranty and returns tracking.
Michael Martin, Director of CEVA’s automotive shared user network, said: “We are very pleased to add Mazda to our growing automotive customer portfolio in the UK. This contract win is testimony to our commitment to operations excellence and innovation and our extensive experience in this sector. Our shared user network is already delivering great benefits in terms of cost, service and carbon reduction through route optimization and low set-up investment – it can only improve as we add further automotive customers.”
Parts are distributed from Mazda’s National Distribution Center at Staplehurst, Kent and delivered through the night to 140 UK locations for over 180 dealerships, five nights a week.
CEVA also works with Mazda managing the distribution of spare parts throughout Italy.
