SINGAPORE – May 6, 2011 – Agility, a leading global logistics provider, won the Best Green Service Provider – Logistics Operator Award for the second consecutive year at the 2011 Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) in Singapore. Agility received the award as a result of its consistent commitment to improving, developing and implementing environmentally friendly supply chain strategies.
The award was presented to Venkatesh K.C., Agility’s Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, by Oh Bee Lock, Chief Operating Officer, PSA Singapore Terminals, at a ceremony attended by leading shippers, logistics and industry executives at the Shangri-la Hotel in Singapore.
“We are very proud that we have been able to retain this important and prestigious award. It recognizes our commitment to continuous improvement in developing green supply chain solutions that deliver real benefits for our customers.  I would like to thank everyone who voted for us,” said Hans Hickler, Agility, CEO, Asia Pacific.
The industry’s top accolade for excellence in Asia, and voted for by the readers of Cargonews Asia, the AFSCAs is an event attended by top decision makers in the industry. The award follows Agility’s recent launch of its first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, which outlines its engagement in five focus areas: environment, community investment, humanitarian and emergency logistics, employees and business with integrity. Key environmental highlights from the report include:
- – The development and use of a number of tools to assist customers in determining how to measure and reduce their supply chain operations environmental impact.
 - – The establishment of a global program to improve employee awareness about the environment with a view to reducing the company’s environmental impact.
 - – Involvement in a global dialogue on the environment, most notably as a strategic partner of the World Economic Forum (WEF), where Agility participates in various environment related working groups.
