DHL now delivering parcels to customer’s outlet of choice in Germany

  • New service makes it even more convenient to receive DHL parcel items
  • Customers decide when, where and how parcels are delivered to them

DHL1251Bonn, 09/06/2012, 01:00 PM CEST – To use “Postfiliale Direkt”, the customer must only first register for the new service at either an outlet or online (www.paket.de).

September 1st marked the start of the new DHL Parcel service “Postfiliale Direkt”, giving private customers in Germany just one more delivery option for their parcel items. Starting immediately, DHL parcels can be delivered to outlets that are most convenient for the customer, allowing for easy pick-ups before or after work, for example.

To use “Postfiliale Direkt”, the customer must follow a few simple steps. The parcel recipient must first register for the new service at either an outlet or online (www.paket.de) to receive a so-called “Postnummer”. Customers who already have a Postnummer can select their pick-up outlet of choice from the list of participating locations using the online Postfinder tool (www.deutschepost.de/postfinder). They then provide this delivery address to the party sending the parcel.  Parcels can still be sent to private or office addresses as to well as to any of DHL’s 2,500 Packstation machines or other previously arranged drop-off locations.

More flexibility and transparency

“When it comes to parcel deliveries, consumers are always looking for solutions that offer more flexibility and transparency.  We’ve expanded the delivery options for our customers even further by allowing customers to provide the address of an outlet as the delivery address,” says Andrej Busch, CEO of DHL Parcel Germany. “This makes us Germany’s most flexible delivery network.”

Similar to the Packstation service, DHL Parcel notifies customers – either by text message or e-mail – once their parcel has been delivered to the outlet of their choosing. Parcels are kept in the outlet and are available for pick-up for seven workdays.
