Publication’s 2010 Shipper’s Choice Awards Survey Recognizes Carriers for Outstanding Performance

Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that it has been named an elite Carrier of Choice in the LTL trucking category by Canadian Transportation & Logistics for the ninth consecutive year. Only 10 Carriers of Choice were named among the 42 winners of the publication’s Annual Shipper’s Choice Awards Survey, which aims to provide buyers of transportation services with consistent, national and scientifically derived benchmarks of excellence for carrier performance across all modes.
The publication establishes a target total score each year and names companies that have exceeded the benchmark for five consecutive years Carriers of Choice. For the survey, 9,000 carrier evaluations from all modes were cast and readers ranked them in the categories of on-time performance, quality of equipment and operations, information technology, competitive pricing, customer service, leadership in problem solving and ability to provide value-added service. This year, the publication added another key performance indicator for shippers’ consideration: sustainable transportation.
