Panalpina strengthens Australian network

With the acquisition of its long-time partner, Apollo Forwarding in Adelaide, South Australia, the global transport and logistics group Panalpina confirms its commitment to further growth in the Oceania region.

Panalpina announces the acquisition of Apollo Forwarding, Adelaide, effective immediately. The two companies have been close partners for over ten years, Apollo Adelaide having acted as Panalpina’s agent both locally and globally. “The acquisition enables us to further enlarge our geographic coverage in Oceania and widens our customer base”, explains Karl Weyeneth, Chief Operating Officer of the Panalpina Group. Jörg Granzow, Area Managing Director of Panalpina Oceania, adds: “In addition to being a well established customs broker, Apollo Adelaide also provides international freight forwarding services, in-house customs clearance, distribution services as well as quarantine clearances and inspections, among other offerings.”
Apollo Adelaide brings a solid customer base, particularly in South Australia. While Panalpina will benefit from Apollo’s local know-how and customer relationships, the company will contribute its worldwide network, standardized IT applications, tailor-made customer solutions and global sales team to strengthen Apollo’s service portfolio. “Together we will further develop our industry specific logistics solutions for local and global customers. In addition we will focus on the winery and automotive markets in South Australia”, elaborates Karl Weyeneth.
All employees of Apollo Adelaide will remain with the company. This includes Managing Director Matthew Caudle, who has been appointed Business Unit Manager of Panalpina Adelaide.
