27 March 2012 at 15:00 CET – The Hague / Turnhout – Omega Pharma, a leading player on the Belgian market for over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and personal care products, has extended its contract with trans-o-flex Belgium for another three years. Trans-o-flex Belgium, whose upcoming acquisition by PostNL was recently announced, has been the distributor for Omega Pharma’s business-to-business consignments in Belgium since 1987. The contract involves the handling of 15,000 pallets and 500,000 parcels annually.
Davy de Vlieger, general manager at Omega Pharma Belgium, comments: “We strive to offer our customers the best service we can, and our products being delivered properly is a crucial part of this. Trans-o-flex Belgium has been our logistics partner for many years now and we are pleased that we will be able to continue working with them.”
Gerrit Mastenbroek, general manager at PostNL Parcels, says: “We are really delighted with the trust shown in us through the long-term extension of the contract. The good, sustainable relationship between Omega Pharma and trans-o-flex Belgium will continue. The company can look forward to working with a quality contract with a minimum of 98% delivery, something which is unique in this sector. As the market leader in the pharmaceutical vertical market, trans-o-flex Belgium is committed to the further development of this sector and has found a good parent company in PostNL Parcels to facilitate this.”
From its early beginnings 25 years ago, Omega Pharma CEO Marc Coucke has carefully considered each step in his company’s path to growth. One very important element of this growth has been the company’s trust in suppliers who place high priority on transport. Transport MIT carried out this task for many years, always maintaining the standards set by Omega Pharma and the pharmaceutical sector. Transport MIT was acquired by trans-o-flex, and now, with the announced acquisition of trans o-flex by PostNL, it is PostNL’s turn to not only affirm this cooperation with Omega Pharma but also to reinforce it, using all of the experience and facilities it has at its disposal. Omega Pharma and PostNL are discussing ways to optimise transport as a response to possible expansions of Omega Pharma’s activities.
PostNL processes 8.7 billion addressed postal items (including 106 million parcels) each year and delivers to addresses in the Benelux, Germany, the UK and Italy. PostNL’s main business is mail, parcels and e-commerce. The company also provides services in the area of data and document management, direct marketing and fulfilment. PostNL employs some 65,500 people. In 2011 the company generated a turnover of nearly 4.3 billion euros.
