LIM College visual merchandising students, transformed DHL branded packing and shipping materials into “couture” wear.

Always in style, DHL is returning for the eleventh straight season as the Official Logistics Provider of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2012 Collections and is partnering with LIM College to promote young talent by sponsoring an online design contest.

LIM College visual merchandising students, under the direction of Visual Merchandising Chair Eric Feigenbaum and award-winning designer and Associate Chair Marjorie Lee Woo, transformed DHL branded packing and shipping materials into “couture” wear. Bubble wrap, packing tape and cardboard morphed into gowns, cocktail dresses, hats and even an airplane fascinator. The four student designers were: Emily Acle, Carinne Cusanelli, Samantha Scopo, and Vinessa Soluri.

The public voted for their favorite design in the DHL “couture” collection at http://www.zangzing.com/limdhlcontest/lim-college-fashion-contest from Feb. 3 to Feb. 6. The two winning designs, created by Soluri and Cusanelli – will be featured at the DHL space in the Event Lobby during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Damrosch Park.

“Hands-on engagement with the fashion industry is an invaluable part of an LIM College education, and this collaboration really exemplifies that,” said LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse.

Visitors to the DHL space at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week can select DHL Fashion accessories, also created by LIM College students, and then have their photograph taken with the DHL branded mannequins on a simulated fashion runway. The photographs will be taken by LIM College students under the direction of LIM College professor and award-winning fashion photographer Michael Creagh.
