In addition to activity on the day itself, DHL provided staff and customers with the chance to get behind-the-scenes.
DHL, Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United, celebrated the launch of a new training kit by sponsoring the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday 11th February.
To mark the occasion, current Manchester United star Phil Jones and Red Devils’ legend Lou Macari were on hand to present the new training kit, signed by the entire first team squad, to DHL representatives including DHL Express CEO, Ken Allen, and DHL Express CEO Europe, John Pearson.
A signed shirt was also presented to children from the Rainbow Trust, DHL’s chosen charity. The Rainbow Trust, which provides emotional and practical support for families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness, also provided the match mascot for arguably the biggest game in English football when Harry Bullows was given the honor of leading the two teams onto the pitch, accompanied by Manchester United captain Patrice Evra.
Entertainment for the crowd
DHL also delivered the half-time entertainment for the crowd, where one lucky fan was presented with a personalized training shirt and had the opportunity to take a penalty against Manchester United Academy goalkeeper Joe Coll in front of the Stretford End.
In addition to activity on the day itself, DHL provided staff and customers with the chance to get behind-the-scenes at the club’s Carrington training ground to watch the first team train prior to the match.
John Pearson, CEO DHL Express Europe, said “We’re delighted to have been able to celebrate the launch of the new training kit with the fans and with our staff and customers at Old Trafford. A great deal of work goes on behind-the-scenes at Manchester United to prepare the team for a match of this magnitude, and as Official Logistics Partner to the club, we are proud to be a part of that process.”
