DHL Appoints global ambassador for Rugby World Cup 2011

  • Former New Zealand captain Sean Fitzpatrick to support DHL in delivering Rugby to global fans
  • DHL launches Rugby kicking simulator in Hong Kong from 22-24 March, the only one of its kind, with many prizes to be won

As the Official Logistics Partner of RWC 2011, DHL will be responsible for ticket distribution, express shipments and international and domestic freight movements.

DHL the Official Logistics Partner of Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011), is proud to announce its appointment of international Rugby legend, Sean Fitzpatrick, as its Global Rugby Ambassador. 

Sean Fitzpatrick, a former New Zealand captain and an inspirational leader, was the first New Zealander to captain a Test series win in South Africa. Widely known for his physical fortitude and mental aptitude, Sean is considered one of the best Rugby Union players of all time, his legendary strength and mobility helping to shape the prototype of the modern Rugby Union hooker.

As the DHL Global Ambassador for RWC 2011, Sean will participate in a series of events in 13 different regions across Europe, South Africa, as well as Asia Pacific.

Prizes to win

To help build excitement, DHL Hong Kong is setting up a Rugby kicking simulator at Windsor House, Causeway Bay from March 22nd to 24th, 2011. The general public is invited to experience the skills and techniques required to “convert a try”. Prizes are available for all those participating and scoring points. The Rugby simulator will also be featured in the corporate hospitality area of the Rugby Village during Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens.

As the Official Logistics Partner of RWC 2011, DHL will be responsible for ticket distribution, express shipments and international and domestic freight movements for Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) and the International Rugby Board (IRB). That includes the delivery of over 100 tons of equipment for the 20 national teams involved.
