Damco hires Mining specialist to expand global mining footprint
 
DAMCO12529 October 2012 Effective 3rd September 2012, Damco has appointed Ivan Thuynsma as Global Head for the Mining Vertical. 
 
Ivan will be responsible for the global development of customers in and around the mining industry.
 
Damco has over the last few years seen an increased interest in its products and services around the mining vertical – particularly in growth markets like Africa.
 
Im delighted to welcome Ivan to the Damco organization. With his expertise and our unique footprint in Africa Im sure we will quickly achieve the first steps to our strategy, says Jacob Moe, Chief Commercial Officer Damco Africa & Middle East.

Prior to joining Damco, Ivan worked for UTi for 10 year of which 7 were as part of their Mining and Projects vertical, leading the Africa and Middle East Mining and Project vertical for the last 18 Months.
 
He comes with experience in all facets of the mining supply chain from Greenfield projects to operational replenishment, and the shipping of finished products such as Copper Cathodes.
 
Ivan holds a B.Com Hons. Degree, and is currently busy with a Masters Degree at the University of Johannesburg with a specific focus on supply chain management.
Damco gains high industry expertise by appointing Leo Bischoff as new technology segment leader.
 
29 October 2012 Damco has appointed Leo Bischoff as the new Global Head of the technology industry segment, effective November 1.
 
Leo Bischoff brings to Damco 30 years of experience in supply chain strategy and operational activities: procurement, logistics, distribution, customs & compliance, materials, manufacturing, planning, order management, outsourcing and cost management at companies like Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and Coca-Cola. Leaving HP in May 2012 Leo Bischoffs last role was as Vice President of Worldwide Logistics.
 
I am extremely excited about the opportunity to work with Leo in the technology space, as his knowledge and experience will enable us to make a breakthrough in our efforts to build a strong value proposition for technology customers, says Eric Herman, Global CCO of Damco.
It is a clear ambition to make the technology sector a major contributor to our business, supporting our strategy to diversify our business further, he adds.
 
Leo Bischoff will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will be working very closely with the Damco technology team members around the globe.

Leo Bischoff holds an MBA degree in Business Strategies from Universidade Luterana do Brasil.
