OHL and Breville USA Enter Into Transportation Management Agreement

May 05, 2011

OHL, a leading global supply chain company, today announced that it has signed a transportation management agreement with Breville USA, a leading provider of consumer electrical products.

Under the agreement, the OHL transportation management team will manage all of Breville’s 3,000 less-than-truckload and truckload shipments coming in and out of Breville’s Torrance, Calif., facility.

Breville first engaged OHL in 2009 to manage warehousing in Torrance.

“We are pleased to partner with OHL on this strategic project,” said Damian Court, president, Breville USA. “We have been very happy with OHL’s warehouse management and expect to see significant savings by outsourcing our outbound transportation operations. The integration with the existing warehouse management system will allow our management team to see all the data necessary to run our business as efficiently as possible.”

“This is a perfect project for OHL,” commented Greg Sanders, president North American Transportation for OHL. “The warehouse team in Torrance continues to do a great job for Breville. By augmenting this with our transportation team, we will help Breville optimize their supply chain while reducing costs – it’s a win-win.”

After taking over management of Breville’s warehouse operations in 2009, OHL installed a warehouse management system to create a seamless integration from Breville’s order system. Outsourcing warehouse operations to OHL reduced Breville’s expenses by nearly 35 percent in 2010; and the expectation is that those savings will continue to increase through optimization and other cost-efficiencies OHL has implemented.

In March 2011, Breville and OHL signed the next phase of an optimization strategy that will further reduce costs for Breville.

By leveraging OHL’s expertise, buying power and shipping professionals, Breville is guaranteed to save 16 percent on its shipping costs in 2011. The OHL team will implement a transportation management software that will integrate directly with the existing warehouse management system – creating a seamless flow of information from Breville to the warehouse, transportation management, as well as a full reporting structure back to Breville.
