Trucking company renovating 90-door freight terminal, plans move for Jan. 9, 2012 following major upgrade and modernization project
CHEYENNE, WYOMING – November 03, 2011
Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), announced today plans to relocate its freight operations from Loveland, Colorado to a renovated and modernized 90-door freight service center in Cheyenne. Operations will commence at the new Cheyenne facility on January 9, 2012 following an extensive upgrading of the facility and completion of office and dock renovations.
Con-way Freight is bringing 27 jobs to Cheyenne and over the next two months plans to hire up to a dozen additional drivers to support local business and operational needs, noted Jim Lutze, director of operations. It will be redeploying its fleet of 20 tractors and 60 trailers to the new Cheyenne facility.
Lutze noted that the company has outgrown its current location, a 16-door facility in Loveland, and decided to relocate to Cheyenne to give it better access and faster service for local customers in Cheyenne and Laramie, capacity for more efficient operations and flexibility to accommodate business growth. The company currently handles some 500,000 pounds of freight daily in and out of the area, serving 1,200 customers within a 75 mile radius of Cheyenne.
“This facility, once renovated, will be perfectly suited for our business,” said Lutze. “It will put us closer to our customers and enable us to operate more efficiently.”
Con-way Freight provides local, regional and nationwide trucking services for commercial and industrial less-than-truckload (LTL) freight shipments. Cheyenne joins a network of 286 locations in North America that connects thousands of businesses with reliable and fast freight delivery. Out of Cheyenne, Con-way will provide next-day service as far as Denver and Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque, NM, with second-day service extending to all of California, Portland OR and Seattle, and south to Phoenix.
