TNT Express Sri Lanka donates shoes to school children

Colombo, Sri Lanka, September 28th, 2011 – TNT Express in Sri Lanka is pleased to donate shoes to school children at Makehelwela Vidyalaya in Mawanella in the Central Province of Sri Lanka.

The donation was an initiative made by the TNT Express’ employees who contributed with 136 pairs of children shoes as a dedication to give back to the local community and a reflection of the company’s principles to support Sri Lankan youth.

TNT Express, one of the leading global express delivery companies, is represented by Ace International Express in Sri Lanka, the express delivery arm of Aitken Spence Cargo.

Jerome Brohier, Country Manager for TNT Express in Sri Lanka stated: “Companies and individuals should acknowledge the challenges faced by the young generation nowadays. We, at TNT Express in Sri Lanka, recognise these challenges and try our level best to support the children to overcome these obstacles.”

Brohier also highlighted on the partnership between TNT Express and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in their joint effort to fight hunger. This partnership is known as ‘Moving the World’ and is primarily focused on providing meals to feed children in various schools across the island in Sri Lanka.

Tim Frank, General Manager for TNT Associates in the Middle East and Indian sub-continent said: “We are very pleased to support children in need especially to see the emotional impact on children faces while receiving the shoes. Our can do attitude is also reflected through our corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
